Questions About Monero Anonymity and Privacy

Hi! I am new to the Monero community and I am trying to figure out how this all works. I have tried reading online guides and explanations but I am still a little bit lost about some of this. Specifically, I want to know how Monero is private insofar as it relates to us purchasing the currency through non-private means.
Specifically:
1) If I set up a Monero wallet and then purchase Monero either by using a credit card (with my name on it) or BitCoin (with the public ledgeblockchain and with an exchange having logged my personal information), how does Monero "hide" my identity? Isn't the fact that I purchased the Monero with currency/account/credit card that is linked to my real world identity compromising it?
2) Say I want to make a confidential online purchase through a more traditional currency, such as BitCoin, and I use XMR.to to convert the Monero to BitCoin, using a BitCoin wallet that is not linked to my real world identity (using TOR, TAILS, etc.). Won't the compromised account from #1 expose my identity when I try to use BitCoin transferred from Monero? Would I need to send the Monero to another Monero wallet and *then* transfer to a new BTC wallet, like twice over?
I guess I am trying to figure out at what point my identity is exposed using Monero and at what point my identity is hidden.
Thanks in advance and sorry for the n00b questions.

I'm 99% sure I've been scammed, and desperately need advice.

So, I'm pretty new into the SB business, and I just got here. I was reading through the "It's a scam" post and realized that holy shit, a lot of that matches. He's been sending me checks through email, asking me to deposit them, and when they don't clear all the way he gets a little upset and confused. He doesn't want to wait so he sends me more, in smaller amounts. Asked me to pay his babysitter for him. I was suspicious about this right off the bat, but gave him the benefit of the doubt.
Then all of the sudden, he has people sending me money on cashapp, and asking me to turn it into BitCoin, and send it to a random BitCoin wallet. This got me irritated.
Then I read through the post here. And I instantly blocked him, reported him on the site I was using, etc.
Then one of the checks cleared. And my account went down, showing me that it did NOT go through properly. There are at least 3 other checks I can count that he sent me. I am on the line with my bank right now. But I need advice, and quick!

I found an old wallet and recovery.txt file, but I'm clueless what to do.

Update:
Seems to be an empty BitCoin wallet. Thanks to Im_Here_To_Fuck for the help.
For those wondering: I took the wallet.dat and used PyWallet to get a wallet.txt file, which gave me a bunch of lines filled with ADDR, PUBKEY, RESERVE and SEC information.
Based on that, it looks to be a Bitcoin wallet. I already have Bitcoin Core installed and Syncing, it's about 4 years behind as of this edit. No transactions showing right now with the wallet.dat replaced.
I checked Bitcoin explorer for about 30 of the addresses listed - no transactions.
Better to know its empty than wonder forever!
The files are from 2013 and I don't have a clue if there is even a balance. I don't even remember what currency it was for or what the wallet belongs to.
I ran PyWallet but it didn't really clarify anything for me - I think it may be LiteCoin but I'm still stuck - what now? How do I actually get into the wallet or better yet how do I figure out what wallet the recovery code is even for?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
edit: I also noticed I found a debug.txt file and there are dates from 2009 / 2010 in there.

I got hacked and they want money and I don’t know what to do

Okay so I got an email saying I got hacked because I went on a adult site but I don’t remember going on an adult site, I did go on Twitter and clicked on a link but existed when it didn’t load, they said when I was browsing on the videos my internet browser started to act like a RDP and they said a keylogger granted them ability to access my desktop and web cameras but I clicked on that link yesterday or the day before yesterday and I’ve only been watching movies on amazon prime video and my laptop doesn’t have a camera I also clicked on that link on my phone, they also said I can change my passwords but a malware updates needed data every time and they said I need to send them $915 USD and to convert the money into BitCoin, they also gave me their BitCoin wallet address and that I have 2 days to send it and that they know when I opened the email and if I don’t do it they’ll send a video to my contacts. So I’m not sure what to do and I need your advice if you can help :)

Started investing in bitcoin using coin base pro. But as I look more into it most guides recommend storing your currency on an offline ledger or wallet. How do you protect yourself from a flash crash or 20% drop in value if its in a wallet?

Everywhere I see points to not leaving your crypto or cash on an exchange as they can get hacked, or your account can get hacked and your money taken. They recommend you use an offline ledger like the Ledger Nano X as an example, or a digital wallet. This is all fine but how do you protect your bit coin value in the case of a flash crash? Or do you need to choose?
Thanks for all the responses and helping understand :)

Best/Safest deposit method?

I used to use Bovada until all of my debit/check cards were denied by my banks for deposits. I see they offer Zelle by way of a BitCoin wallet/trader called LocalBitCoins. Is LocalBitCoins a legitimate, secure, and safe method to deposit or has it been sketchy or not worth the hassle for anybody? I am located in the U.S.
Thanks.

I sent Bitcoin from Blockchain and 12 hours later there are still no confirmations. I think it's because Blockchain put the transaction fee too low, is there anything I can do about this or do I just have to sit and wait? After a certain amount of time will the coins go back to my initial wallet?

Attempting to purchase for first time without using ID

I'm looking to purchase bitcoins for the very first time but having read countless articles on how to maintain full anonymity during the transaction I'm a little lost on what is the best method of doing so. I'm currently in Australia where BitCoin atm's are all regulated and require some form of ID which would link myself to the BitCoin wallet so that is out of question. I'm also not in a major city so a face to face transaction is not possible either...
I have read however that purchasing Gift Cards from Amazon or I-tunes through a site which does not require any ID to set up an account is an option, although its my understanding that using a Credit Card to process the transaction will create a link between myself and the BitCoins sold to me. Is this assesment correct? If so then is there any way I can trade Gift Cards bought for cash in store for BitCoin?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

I paid a school shooter my son hired on the deep web.

Part 1
I’ve been reading the comments and frankly I think some of your responses are sad. For one, my son was thirteen. Implying that I wouldn’t know how to use a computer is hilarious. I’m thirty-four. I’ve been online longer than my son had been alive. That’s the difference between my generation and yours. When I did all my crazy stuff online, there wasn’t such a thing as social media. Let’s just say that if you had been running around on the old Yahoo Chat user rooms or played around on Freednode IRC that you would have run into more than one woman like myself that had been a bit of an exhibitionist in college.
I spent three days going through my son’s computer offline. I learned a lot. He kept a detailed journal. Six students and three staff members died in the shooting. With the exception of my son, I think every single one of them deserved to die. The students had been bullying my son. The teachers had been turning a blind eye to the abuse. However, the school counselor was the worst of the bunch. John Garrett had been counseling my son online. David kept logs of all of his DM’s. It didn’t take much reading to find out that Mr. Garrett was grooming my son for a different kind of abuse.
John Garrett had manipulated my son into performing lewd acts on webcam. The sick fuck had convinced my son that it would build his self-esteem. What started with nude selfies or the occasional cam show turned into David performing on livestreams for rooms full of anonymous pedophiles who would tip him with Bitcoin and other assorted crypto-currencies. I accessed his Bitcoin wallet and found that these men had paid my son a sum in excess of four Bitcoin. Feel free to check the conversion rate on that one. That was simply my son’s cut. From reading the chat logs, I can only surmise that John Garrett was keeping the larger portion of these tips for himself.
Somewhere along the way a few students at his school figured out that my son was a homosexual. Apparently my son had expressed a crush on a local boy who did not share his affection. These idiot kids proceeded to push him into lockers or call him a faggot. When my son would bring this to the attention of his teachers, they’d do nothing. This led to my son talking to John Garrett. If JeffTK hadn’t already seen to his death, I’d have already spent an evening or two peeling the skin from John Garrett’s dick with a potato peeler.
If you haven’t guessed already, I’m not posting these updates in real time. Over the course of the last few weeks I have become a bitter woman. I’ve been using my son’s Adderall to stay awake and my husband’s vodka to take the edge off. I’ve already catalogued all of the information on my son’s desktop. I used the funds from his BitCoin wallet to procure a new laptop and I’ve spent my days at home diving into the world John Garrett had introduced him to. Once I was fairly certain I had familiarized myself with enough of the details I went back to that private IRC server with my own screen name.
I messaged JeffTK and asked for a QR code I could use to send him the remaining payment. No questions were asked and I sent him the five-thousand dollars my son owed him. What followed was a conversation that read like this:
PoesMom: So how does this work? Can I give you another list of names?
JeffTK: A list of names? For what?
PoesMom: Cute. My son was short-sighted. It didn’t take me long to figure out most of his viewers were associates of John Garrett.
JeffTK: We are well aware of that situation.
PoesMom: How long did you have a RAT on his system?
JeffTK: Long enough. I assume you have three names for me?
PoesMom: Four.
JeffTK: Four?
PoesMom: Four. Andrew Rubens, Sterling Rutherford, Malcolm Turner, and Glenn Wade.
JeffTK: Who is Glenn Wade?
PoesMom: Glenn Wade is a poster on Reddit who encouraged my son to kill himself.
JeffTK: This will cost you more than you have.
PoesMom: I’m sure we can work something out.
JeffTK: I’m sure we can.
Three men who worked as school counselors at various local schools would be having a very bad week. One internet troll would be having a very bad day. Even after dumping all of my son’s crypto-currency I would still be in debt to these men for more than ten-thousand dollars. I didn’t care that people were going to die. Any sympathy I had for the world died with my son. No sooner than I had secured this deal though, I received a phone call.
I answered and a very familiar voice said, “Mom, what have you done?”
Three weeks of hatred fell away as the tears poured from my eyes. I replied, “David baby? Is that you?”
“Why mom? Why are you doing this?” David said in a concerned tone.
I shot back, “They took you away from me baby. I’m going to make them pay for it in blood.”
I stared down at the cordless handset and realized that it was off. I had been awake for longer than a week. It was becoming harder and harder to distinguish what was real and what was just another hallucination brought on by lack of sleep. I stared at the handset and cried all over again. My son was gone. He had spent the last months of his life being violated and abused by those he was supposed to trust the most. Worst of all, instead of coming to me, he choose to die. No one was going to come out of this sitting pretty.
I popped three more pills and chased it with a mixture of sprite and vodka. It wasn’t long before I received a DM that read,
“You ready to earn the rest of that money?”
